With 2024 well underway, the partners meet up on the 21st-23rd of May for a new study visit and learning event. Our host is our partner in the always exciting and enticing, even mystical, Finland in the far north-east of Europe.

"It's a long trip up north for our partners but we're looking forward to meeting up with everybody and show the partners what we do in our region and country regarding social services and person-based care" says Emma Rautava, projectmanager for Finnish partner of the wellbeing services in Päijät-Häme. "We'll also be visiting our other Finnish partner LAB University for an interesting day and meeting the mayor in Lahti."

Green care

One of the planned study visits takes us to Hakamaa Farm, part of the disability services of the Päijät-Häme wellbeing services county. It is a Green care-farm which provides day and work activities for clients with special needs.

Busy schedule

Next to our visit to Hakamaa Farm, we'll get to know Mente-services. They are a local, non-profit service provider and a Social Enterprise and provide customer-oriented housing services and rehabilitation services for people recovering from mental health issues and substance abuse. Their services and competence are developed in accordance with The Recovery Approach Orientation. Have a look at their website for more information.

During the learning event on the 22nd of May, LAB University will welcome us for an exciting day, including a learning event about ESIS. It is a brief closed survey instrument to assess self-reported experiences of social inclusion.

On thursday, the final day of our busy schedule in Finland, we'll be visiting The Lahti Diaconia Institute and Dila Block. The Lahti Diaconia Institute is a non-profit foundation and Social Enterprise while the Dila block is a community and inclusion area that unites Lahti residents of different ages and life situations. The Dila block offers a home for the elderly, youth employment services and events for all Lahti residents.

No doubt exhausting but thrilling at the same time. Here we come Finland!
